We open everyday at 9:30am. In the summer, we close at 4:30pm and in the winter we close at 4pm.

What animals can we see when we visit the zoo?
There are many rare and exciting species to see at Riverside Discovery Center. This includes Brown Bear, Mountain Lions, Tiger, Spotted Hyena, Spider Monkeys and Red Ruffed Lemurs. We are also the only zoo in Nebraska with Chimpanzees.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes, we are proud to say that we are fully accessible to those in wheelchairs.
Can I get a discount if I come with my class?
Yes, Group admission rates are something we offer to schools and community groups wanting to visit the zoo. Contact the front desk to book!
What Conservation work does RDC participate in?
RDC has a storied history of conservation work. We are currently part of several Species Survival Plans which aims to better the genetic variability within certain Endangered & threatened species in captivity. This includes Waldrapp Ibis, Robust Black Spider Monkey, Reeve’s Muntjac, Swift Fox and Red Ruffed Lemurs, to name a few.
What can my kids do at the zoo?
We aim to educate kids on the wonders of the natural world, all through the lens of discovery. In addition to seeing exotic and rare animals, Kids can explore the playgrounds, have fun in the Discovery Barn and in Summer, Splash around in the SplashPad!
What programs can we participate in at the zoo?
We have tons of fun and exciting programs to participate in! Every Wednesday, we host the Little Explorers Club which focuses on teaching Mom’s and Tots about a different species each week. We also offer Internship programs and Docent programs for those of you wanting to get more involved. Contact the front office to find out more!
